01What is a thread lift?
A thread lift uses absorbable barbed sutures placed at the SMAS plane to reposition descended soft tissue and stimulate new collagen.
The term covers a wide range of techniques. Monofilament hydrating threads sit in the dermis to stimulate collagen and improve texture — they barely lift.
Multi-vector barbed protocols (such as our Grand Diamond approach) produce structural lift across the full face in a single session.
02Who threads suit (and don't)
Best for patients whose primary concern is descent of soft tissue — jowling, loss of cheek projection, softening jawline — without significant skin redundancy or fat-pad atrophy. Most effective from the mid-thirties onward, when collagen turnover slows but skin still has elastic recoil.
- Mild to moderate jowling along the jawline
- Loss of definition at the temple and zygomatic arch
- Naso-labial folds heavier at day's end than at the start
- Wants single-session intervention with minimal downtime
03How threads actually work
The lift you see immediately has two components. Mechanical (day 1): barbs engage soft tissue; tension along the vector physically repositions it.
Biological (8–24 weeks): threads at the SMAS plane trigger a controlled fibrotic and collagen-remodelling response.
04PDO vs PCL — at a glance
The material matters more than the brand. Most decisions come down to PDO (polydioxanone) or PCL (polycaprolactone).
PDO threads resorb in 6–9 months and produce a stronger early collagen response. PCL threads resorb in 12–18 months with slower, more sustained remodelling — preferred for moderate descent and longer vectors.
05Realistic longevity
The threads dissolve. The collagen scaffold they leave behind persists longer.
- Multi-vector protocol (Grand Diamond): meaningful effect at 18–24 months.
- Single-vector protocol (light): 9–12 months.
- Top-up cadence: most patients return at month 14–18.
06The 14-day recovery
"No downtime" is technically accurate and practically misleading. No surgical incision, no general anaesthesia, no time off work — but expect brief swelling and the occasional bruise.
- Days 1–3: Mild swelling. Cold compress + head-elevated sleeping help.
- Days 4–7: Swelling resolves. Tightness when smiling is normal.
- Days 8–14: Final shape settles; tightness fades.
- Weeks 4–12: Collagen remodelling continues; subtle improvements at month three.
07Cost in Bangkok (2026)
Final pricing depends on thread count, material, and complexity — confirmed only after a physician consultation.
- Light · single vector — PDO 12–16 threads — From ฿38,000
- Mid · jaw + cheek — PDO 24–32 threads — From ฿62,000
- Mid · PCL upgrade — PCL 16–24 threads — From ฿85,000
- Grand Diamond · full — PCL 32–48 threads — From ฿120,000
08Choosing a physician
Thread placement is technique-dependent in a way few aesthetic procedures are. The same thread, placed differently, will produce different — sometimes opposite — results.
Ask any clinic: how many thread cases per year, what is your revision rate, and show me a result on a face like mine.
09Which thread for your concern
Thread lift is a category, not one product — the right pick depends on how much descent you have and whether you want a targeted or full-face result. For mild, one-area sag, the Onyx V-Shape Thread Lift is a focused spot-lift.
For natural all-over softening, the Ruby No.5 Baby-Face program places fine threads across the whole face, while the Grand Diamond Thread Lift is the premium multi-vector option. For firmer sculpting that grips and repositions tissue, choose the Emerald Molding Cog Thread Lift; and to raise the brow tail and outer eye, the Endoline Foxy Eye lift targets just that area.
Your physician confirms the plan and thread count at consultation.
10Planning a thread lift from abroad
Most thread-lift questions from overseas patients are about logistics, not the procedure: how to plan before flying and how it fits a travel window. You can start with an online consultation — send recent photos and your goal, and the physician outlines a likely plan, thread count and cost range before you arrive, so the in-clinic visit is efficient.
- Timing: book the lift early in your trip and allow 2–3 days for initial swelling to settle before flights or events.
- Eating & activity: keep the first few days light; avoid wide mouth-opening, facials and heavy exercise for about two weeks.
- Two branches near BTS Siam and BTS Ekamai, with multilingual support for international patients.
