Sculptra vials at Waleerat Clinic — physician-led dose planning

How many Sculptra vials do you need — the honest 1 / 2 / 3 vial breakdown

In one paragraph

Most patients ask 'is 1 vial enough?' before booking Sculptra. The honest answer: it depends on where the volume loss is, how deep it goes, and what end result you want. For a small spot-correction (one temple, mild forehead hollow) 1 vial is plausible. For diffuse mid-face restoration — the most common reason to choose Sculptra over filler — the standard course is 2-3 vials spread across 2-3 sessions over 4-6 months. This article breaks down what each vial actually treats, why 'just 1 vial first' often costs more long-term, and how Waleerat physicians map your vial plan before you commit. Price guide: ฿25,000/vial; full course typically ฿50,000-฿75,000.

01Standard 1 / 2 / 3 vial breakdown

Sculptra is sold by vial — one vial diluted to 8-10 ml of injectable solution. Depending on the surface area treated, the average patient at Waleerat needs 2-3 vials total, split across 2-3 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

1 vial is the floor — appropriate for a single small zone (one temple, a mild forehead hollow, a thin jawline edge). 2 vials is the typical first-time-Sculptra plan — addresses the mid-face triangle (both temples + both upper cheeks). 3 vials becomes appropriate when volume loss extends to the lower face (jawline + jowls) or when significant collagen rebuild is needed for age 50+.

  • 1 vial — single anatomical zone, mild loss
  • 2 vials — mid-face restoration (most patients)
  • 3 vials — global face rejuvenation

02Why 'just 1 vial first' often backfires

We often see patients arrive having tried 1 vial elsewhere, disappointed that 'Sculptra didn't work.' What actually happened: PLLA needs a critical mass of microparticles deposited across the deficit to trigger meaningful collagen response. 1 vial spread across an entire mid-face is sub-therapeutic — your fibroblasts barely register it.

The result: minimal visible change at month 6, the patient assumes Sculptra isn't for them, they switch to filler, and the ฿25,000 first vial was effectively wasted. Far better to map honestly at consult: if 2 vials is what your face needs, do 2 vials.

If your budget is 1 vial only, we'll either treat ONE specific zone properly or recommend a different treatment entirely.

03Cost math — 1 vs 2 vs 3 course

At Waleerat Bangkok Sculptra is ฿25,000 per vial — published price, no surge tiers. The full-course economics:

  • 1 vial (single session) — ฿25,000 · 1 small zone
  • 2 vials (2 sessions 4-6 wk apart) — ฿50,000 · mid-face
  • 3 vials (3 sessions 4-6 wk apart) — ฿75,000 · global
  • Results last 2-3 years across all dose levels

04What 1 vial covers — by anatomical zone

Diluted Sculptra (~8-10 ml per vial) is distributed in micro-deposits across the deficit. Rough coverage per vial — these are averages, not promises; your physician maps the actual plan:

  • Temples (both sides, moderate) — 1 vial
  • Mid-face (both upper cheeks) — 1-1.5 vials
  • Lower face (jawline + jowls) — 1-1.5 vials
  • Full face (global volume restoration) — 2.5-3 vials

05How we plan your vial count

The free 30-minute physician consult before booking maps three things: (1) where you've lost volume, ranked by visibility — what neighbours notice first, (2) the realistic dose to address it, (3) the schedule that fits your budget AND keeps the result coherent (an under-dosed Sculptra plan looks worse than a delayed-but-correct one).

We'd rather you walk away saying 'I'll save for the proper 2-vial plan' than start an under-dosed course you'll be disappointed by. The clinic books revenue from patients who come back at year 2 for a maintenance vial — not from squeezing a one-vial 'starter' that wastes everyone's time.

06Common questions

Can I start with 1 vial and add more later if I like the result?+
Mechanically yes — biologically often no. Sculptra works by triggering a critical-mass collagen response. 1 vial spread across a wide deficit is often sub-therapeutic, so you may judge Sculptra by an under-dosed outcome. We can do 1 vial properly if it's targeted at ONE specific zone (one temple, for example). 'Test with 1 vial across the whole face' is the wrong question — the right question is 'what's the smallest properly-dosed zone for my goal?'
If 2 vials = ฿50,000, why not just do 5 cc of HA filler at ฿25,000?+
Different mechanism, different result. 5 cc of HA filler gives you immediate volume that lasts 12-18 months and then disappears — you'll repeat at the same price. 2 vials of Sculptra rebuilds your own collagen, takes 3-6 months to mature, but lasts 2-3 years AND the collagen gain is partly permanent. Per year of result, Sculptra is cheaper. For point correction (lip, undereye) HA filler is still the right tool.
Can I split a single vial across two appointments?+
We don't recommend it. The vial is mixed fresh on the day with sterile water and lidocaine; once reconstituted it's intended to be used in that session. Splitting introduces sterility and concentration variability. If budget is the issue, the answer is to do 1 vial properly at one zone now, save, return in 4-6 weeks for vial 2.
Will the same physician handle all 2-3 sessions?+
Yes — vial-count consistency across the course is part of the protocol. The first session anchors the dose distribution map; subsequent sessions adjust based on month-1 response. Switching physicians mid-course breaks that continuity. At Waleerat, the consulting physician owns the case from consult through final review.
