Radiesse is the original calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microsphere injectable from Merz Aesthetics (USA), used since 2003 in aesthetic medicine for collagen-stimulating volume restoration and dermal lift. CaHA microspheres act as scaffolding for fibroblast attachment, triggering Type I + Type III collagen production over 8–12 weeks. The microspheres are gradually metabolised over 18–24 months while the patient's own collagen scaffold remains. Different mechanisms. Sculptra uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), requires 3 sessions at 4-6 week intervals, results build over 3-6 months. Radiesse uses calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres, gives immediate volume + collagen builds over 8-12 weeks. Sculptra suits diffuse skin laxity (whole face); Radiesse suits defined jawline / chin / nasolabial-fold correction. Many patients use both at different visits for different indications.
Is Radiesse halal?
Yes. Calcium hydroxylapatite is a synthetic mineral compound identical to the calcium-phosphate naturally found in bone — no animal-derived components. The carrier gel is methylcellulose-based (plant-derived). The pre-mixed lidocaine is synthetic. Radiesse is fully halal-compatible and we provide the manufacturer source documentation on request.
Will my face look unnatural?
When injected by a trained physician along anatomical vectors, no. Radiesse provides structural support that mimics natural bone-and-collagen scaffolding. The risk of unnatural results comes from over-injection (too many syringes) or mis-placement (wrong vector). Sculptra, Radiesse, Ellansé, Profhilo, Juvelook and Rejuran — how to choose

Sculptra, Radiesse and Ellansé are structural. They are placed deeper, and the body lays down its own collagen around the material. Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid and works gradually — it adds nothing on the day. Radiesse is calcium hydroxylapatite and Ellansé is polycaprolactone; both carry a gel that occupies volume from the day of treatment, with the collagen result building behind it. Profhilo, Juvelook and Rejuran are skin treatments. Profhilo is a hybrid hyaluronic acid used to hydrate and remodel, Juvelook is a PDLLA booster for glow and firmness, and Rejuran is a purified salmon-derived polynucleotide used for repair and texture. Skin treatments do not replace lost volume, and structural products do not fix surface quality — many patients are treated with one of each rather than choosing between them.
