01How thread lift physically works — the only non-surgical procedure that repositions tissue
A thread lift inserts barbed or smooth absorbable polymer threads into the subcutaneous tissue layer via a long blunt-tip cannula (no skin cut). The barbs grip the underside of the dermis, and when the physician pulls the thread taut and anchors it to deeper fascia, the tissue physically lifts upward.
Over 6–24 months the polymer dissolves; while present, it scaffolds new collagen formation around each thread track. After the polymer resorbs, the collagen scaffold remains — that's the 'permanent' part of the lift.
Two outcomes from one procedure: (1) IMMEDIATE physical lift visible in the mirror the moment you leave the clinic, (2) GRADUAL collagen reinforcement over 3–6 months that maintains the lift after the polymer dissolves. This is why thread lift is the strongest non-surgical lifting modality — no other category (HIFU, RF, biostimulator) produces immediate physical repositioning.
The thread material determines how long the polymer lasts (6 months for PDO, 12–24 months for PCL, 18+ months for PLLA). The thread design — number of barbs, barb angle, cog density — determines how much lift force the thread holds.
Premium programs use more threads with denser cog patterns and stronger materials; entry programs use fewer threads with simpler designs.
02The 3 thread materials — PDO vs PCL vs PLLA, plainly explained
PDO (Polydioxanone). The polymer used in surgical sutures since the 1980s — well-evidenced, fully resorbable in 6–8 months.
The most common thread material globally. Used in our Onyx Thread Lift, Ruby No.5 Thread Lift, and Amber Thread Lift programs.
Best for early-laxity patients in their 30s to early 40s who don't need the longest-acting material.
PCL (Polycaprolactone). Slower-degrading polymer than PDO — threads last 12–24 months in tissue and produce more collagen than PDO equivalents because the polymer scaffold is present longer.
Stiffer than PDO, requires more skilled placement. Used in our Grand Diamond Thread Lift (the premium program) and Ruby NEX.
Best for moderate-laxity patients in their 40s and 50s with budget for the premium tier.
PLLA (Poly-L-Lactic Acid). The longest-acting collagen-stimulating polymer in the thread family — 18–24+ months of presence in tissue with strong collagen-stimulation effect.
Used as the primary material in our Voline Thread program and as the collagen-scaffolding component in the Vogue Lift hybrid program (PCL barbs + PLLA scaffolding). Most often combined with PDO or PCL rather than used alone.
Hybrid programs (Vogue Lift + Voline + Amber) combine materials to get short-term lift (PDO barbs) + long-term scaffolding (PLLA cores). This is the architecture used in modern premium programs — single-material thread lifts are now considered entry tier.
03Waleerat thread programs — 8 programs mapped to indication
Grand Diamond Thread Lift — premium PCL multi-vector full-face protocol. ฿129,000+.
Korean-spec multi-density barbs across 4 vector zones. Best for moderate-to-heavy laxity in 45+ patients who want the maximum non-surgical lift result. 12–24 month polymer + persistent collagen scaffold.
Onyx Thread Lift — premium PDO program with V-shape protocol. ฿25,000. Mid-tier between entry and Grand Diamond. Best for moderate laxity in 40s patients.
Ruby No.5 Thread Lift — PDO budget-tier with 5-thread density. Most affordable real-clinic thread lift in Bangkok. Best for early laxity in 30s-early 40s where lift requirement is modest.
Ruby NEX — PCL premium variant of Ruby family. Stronger lift than Ruby No.5 due to material upgrade. Mid-tier price.
Vogue Lift — hybrid program (PCL barbs + PLLA scaffolding). ฿3,999/thread base.
Premium signature program supervised by Dr. Waleerat using proprietary Facial Vector Mapping.
Best for revision cases + Japanese / Chinese / Middle Eastern patients with complex lift requirements.
Voline Thread — PLLA primary material, long-acting collagen scaffolding. Often deployed alongside PDO/PCL primary lift threads.
Amber Thread Lift — PDO + barbed micro-thread for mid-face and jawline definition. Mid-tier.
Nose thread + Endoline Foxy — anatomy-specific micro-threads NOT comparable to facial lift threads. Nose thread reshapes dorsal bridge and tip projection (different physics from lifting).
Endoline Foxy creates outer-brow lift via fine PDO threads inserted in the lateral periorbital area.
04Decision tree — match the thread to your laxity level
Profile A — late 20s to mid 30s, NO visible laxity, want preventive collagen scaffolding. Recommendation: Ruby No.5 PDO program or single Voline strand for collagen scaffolding.
Don't over-treat early laxity with premium programs — the result will look 'overdone' and the budget could be better spent on biostimulator + HIFU at this age range.
Profile B — mid 30s to early 40s, mild visible jawline softening or early jowls. Recommendation: Onyx PDO V-shape OR Amber jawline-focused.
Mid-tier price (฿25,000), mid-tier lift force, well-matched to mild laxity. Maintenance every 12–18 months.
Profile C — mid 40s to early 50s, moderate jowls, jawline descent, mid-face deflation visible. Recommendation: Grand Diamond PCL OR Vogue Lift hybrid.
The premium material + multi-vector protocol matches moderate laxity. ฿50,000–฿129,000. 18–24 month duration + persistent scaffold.
Profile D — late 50s+, significant laxity, multiple zones (lower face + jowls + jawline + neck). Recommendation: Vogue Lift hybrid + sequential HIFU + biostimulator stack.
Single-modality interventions at this laxity level produce sub-spec results. The full 'belt and braces' approach is the right tool for patients who would historically have been surgical candidates but want to defer facelift by 5–10 years.
When to NOT pick thread lift: pregnancy (no safety data), active facial infection, keloid scarring tendency (rare contraindication), realistic facelift candidates (heavy descent + skin laxity at level where surgical excision is the right tool — thread lift will underperform here and patient will be disappointed).
05Bangkok 2026 pricing — what each program tier includes
Entry tier (฿3,999–฿9,999 per thread, or ฿15,000–฿25,000 packaged): Ruby No.5, Vogue Lift entry strand. PDO material, fewer threads, simpler protocol.
Best for early laxity, preventive intervention, single-zone treatments.
Mid tier (฿25,000–฿50,000 packaged): Onyx, Amber, Ruby NEX. PDO or PCL material, moderate thread count, multi-zone protocol. Best for moderate laxity in 40s patients.
Premium tier (฿50,000–฿129,000+): Grand Diamond, full Vogue Lift hybrid program. PCL or PCL+PLLA hybrid material, dense thread count, multi-vector full-face protocol.
Best for moderate-to-heavy laxity in 45+ patients with budget for the longest-duration result.
What drives the price differential: thread material (PCL costs more than PDO; PLLA-hybrid costs most), thread count (premium programs use 30–60 threads vs entry 8–12), physician time (multi-vector protocols take 60–90 min vs entry 30–45 min), and outcome durability (entry results 6–8 months, premium 18–24+ months).
Hidden cost discipline: at Waleerat the listed price INCLUDES anaesthesia + post-procedure photos + 24-hour follow-up + 1 touch-up at month 3 if needed. Some clinics quote a low entry price then bill anaesthesia, photos, and follow-ups separately.
Always ask what's included before you commit.
06Thread lift vs HIFU vs surgical facelift — different physics, different results
Thread lift: PHYSICAL repositioning of tissue immediately + collagen scaffolding over 3–6 months. Strongest non-surgical lift result. ฿15K–฿129K. Result lasts 12–24 months with maintenance.
HIFU / MFU-V (Ulthera, Ultraformer): COLLAGEN STIMULATION at SMAS depth over 3–6 months. No physical tissue repositioning. Strongest non-invasive skin-quality + tightening result. ฿15K–฿45K. Result lasts 12–18 months.
Surgical facelift: SURGICAL repositioning of SMAS + skin excision + suture closure. Strongest lift result available.
฿200K–฿500K+. Result lasts 7–10+ years.
Recovery 2–4 weeks. Scar lines (typically in the hairline + behind ear).
Decision framework: if you have heavy descent + skin laxity at level where excision is needed, surgical facelift is the right tool. If you have moderate descent without skin excess, thread lift gives 70–80% of the surgical result without the recovery.
If you have early laxity or skin-quality concerns without descent, HIFU + biostimulator is the right tool. Match the procedure to the anatomy, not the marketing claim to the budget.
Combo of thread + HIFU + biostimulator: the strongest non-surgical stack available, used at Waleerat for patients in their 50s who want to defer facelift. Sequenced 4–6 weeks apart: HIFU first (skin-quality preparation), thread lift second (physical lift), biostimulator at month 3 (long-term collagen reinforcement).
Total ฿100K–฿180K depending on tier. Result duration: 24+ months.
